On Saturday, we were looking for a snow blower and after doing some online research, we decided on a particular brand and model. Google incorrectly led us to Yankee Sales in Service in Woodstock, CT. When we got there and inquired, they advised us that do not carry the particular brand that we were looking for...so out of courtesy we went over to look at the Ariens and Simplicity models on the floor. We gave a good look over the features, talked amongst ourselves, and were going to make our way out the door when Mike came into the shop area and asked if he could answer some questions for us. We lightly talked about some of the features, all the while wanting to "go get the machine we were intending on getting". He really directed our attention to some things which we had talked about but had not the proper knowledge about, such as the auger, impeller size, heated hand warmers, lighting, and thrower controls. He pointed out the differences on the machines from Deluxe to Platinum, and operation etc... We thanked him for the info and after he gave us the shops hours of operation, left to go find other places which had the intended snow blower of our desire. After a half day of shopping around & looking at the features on the other snow blowers with our new knowledge, etc... we kept thinking back to our discussions with Mike. We re-googled the intended machine again and began to see the benefits of the Ariens over the that machine. It was fully because of Mike's efforts, knowledge and simple no-pressure discussion with us that we decided to buy the Ariens Platinum 369cc machine. We already KNEW from first-hand experience and reading online reviews that Yankee Sales & Service in Woodstock has a FANTASTIC reputation for Servicing their product and would be able to have full confidence in owning any equipment that we would buy from there. I went in on Tuesday and purchased the Ariens. I was able to speak to the owner of the shop and told him of our experience. I thanked him for Mike's boldness and advised how the info he gave us ultimately turned us back to purchasing from Yankee Sales. I left a small gift of appreciation for Mike and feel fully confident that this will be the extension of a wonderful relationship with this locally-owned and operated company. The people in this shop are wonderful. Please do not hesitate to go in and get all your equipment needs from Yankee Sales!

"I've brought my DR Mower to Yankes Sales & Service three times to be repaired and every time my expectations have been vastly exceeded. The first time I had broken a chain that powers the unit when it is in Reverse mode. Although the part I needed was no longer available, the mechanics fabricated the part in their shop and got me running again at a very reasonable price. 

I made the second visit when I accidentally ran the machine for several minutes after the oil plug fell out without me knowing it - I fully expected I'd be needing a new $2,000 engine - but they fixed it for $118 and installed a more secure oil plug system. 

Then the start switch stopped working, which meant I could start the unit but it would not shut down. Thought I'd be looking at a new starting switch for a couple hundred dollars. The took a look at the situation, quickly identified a wire by the motor that had pulled out, and plugged it back in. Problem solved at no cost to me (other than a little embarassment at my lack of mechanical skills). 

This shop is a 50 mile round trip from my house but is worth every mile of the drive.
